Underground waterproofing, or “tanking” refers to techniques that prevent water from the ground entering an underground structure.

Carefully thought out and designed protection for subterranean structures against water from the ground is essential to ensure the space will remain usable throughout its life.

How we waterproof basements

Methods in which basements and other below ground structures are protected against ground water vary with use, condition, and application. These approaches are defined by BS8102:2022 Code of practice for protection of below ground structures against water from the ground.

The chosen waterproofing method used depends upon the structure being waterproofed. However, newly built structures will require a dual system to comply with 3^rd party warranty providers regulations

Why choose Midland Tanking?

The waterproofing system must be designed by an appropriate person. An appropriate person is required to hold the qualification Certified Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW).

The design section of Midland Tanking have three CSSW qualified staff members. All surveying, design and preparation prior to works beginning on site is carried out by one of these surveyors. 

Each member of onsite staff has been trained and certified to work with and install each of the three types of waterproofing system. All senior site management staff have been trained to the highest levels of waterproofing installation.
